by actor/grizzly bear "Fuzzy" last Saturday, during the filming
of a beverage commercial.

The 28-year old shooting guard was rushed to Presbyterian Medical Center after being
slashed and mauled on the set of a Gatorade commercial being filmed at the Temple University practice facility.
Production assistant Dario Mentinni was in shock. "I couldn't believe what unfolded.
It all happened so fast. I think they should have counted that last basket."
"It didn't surprise me at all," said assistant director Trina Billington.
"He [McKie] drove the lane, but Fuzzy had position. I think he threw
an elbow into the bear's snout, and he [Fuzzy] reacted."
The 7-foot bear let out a large roar and swatted the ball away from McKie. There
was no foul on the play.
"It was definitely paw on ball," added Dario. "Fuzzy definitely brought his 'A' game today."
McKie had some words for the Alaska National Park native after the play, and then the fight
broke out. Both players were later ejected from the one-on-one filming.
McKie and Fuzzy will both receive suspensions, and they will miss at least
the next two commercial tapings, pending appeal.
Later on, Fuzzy expressed some regret, not for the McKie incident, but rather for the Grizzlies
franchise and their impending move to Memphis.
McKie is expected to make a fully recovery and the Gatorade commercial will air
sometime later this month.
