BOULDER, CO-- Gerry Hamber isn't any different than most males--his desire to sleep with two women at the same time is perfectly normal. Gerry's situation is more serious however, as he is having trouble distinguishing his erotic fantasies from reality.
"Gerry Hamber's case is very interesting," says Dr. Tse Ling-Phan, a sexual therapist. "It's as if he believes he's having sexual encounters with multiple partners--threesomes in particular--while he's continuing on with his daily life. He may believe that his real life is one continuous erotic dream." Gerry is a 27-year-old graphic designer working for a leading-edge Internet solutions provider in Boulder. His fantasies about threesomes had been mostly dormant until recently, when he began imagining a threesome with his co-worker Angela Bascombe, 25, and Tori Wielding, his 29-year-old department manager. "I'd be working along, designing some logo or whatever, and then Angela and Tori would come into my cubicle. One minute they're asking me to go for lunch, but then in the next instant, they're tearing away my shirt, and licking Hagen-Daas off of my chest. "Then, moments later, they'd both be staring at me like I was sniffing ether or something." Gerry is pretty sure he hasn't had sex with them, either separately or as part of a threesome. "There are also these times at Tully's (coffee shop). I'll be staring at the barista, Kelli, and ordering my coffee from Astrid, the counter girl; the next thing I know, I'm behind the counter making sweet mocha love to both of them. "But then, as if I'm waking up from a dream, I'll just be standing there with a dumb look on my face. Astrid's going 'like hello' and waving dark roast in my face." Gerry admits that his delusional behaviour is causing him at least some distress. "I won't deny that I enjoy the threesome fantasies, mostly. But there are some disturbing moments, like the time I was watching the old guys playing chess in the park." Dr. Ling-Phan
believes the condition is treatable. "I could recommend some long-term
councilling, but I really think he needs to get laid by two women at once."
