Government Workers Appreciate Hallowe'en Long Weekend

CANADA-- Public service workers are certainly grateful when it comes to holidays. Just when the effects of the Canadian Thanksgiving are starting to wear off, along comes the Hallowe'en long weekend to break up the tedium of their Monday to Friday work weeks.

Albert Fritz, Gov't Worker"I understand that not all Canadians are so lucky," said Albert Fritz, who works for the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency. "October and November can be an especially difficult time in the workplace, so it's good to have those three long weekends [Thanksgiving, Hallowe'en, Remembrance Day] to give us that time to recharge."

Albert still feels that the beginning of the year is a more difficult time to work through. "There's quite a gap between New Year's [Day] and the Valentine's Day long weekend," said Albert. "And after the St. Patrick's Day long weekend, we have that long wait until Easter. Still, it could be worse...we could be working in the private sector."

RIAA Fighting For Right Of Prima Nocta

LOS ANGELES-- Recording industry lawyers are fighting for new legislation that will give record executives "first night" (from the latin prima nocta ) privileges with American brides on their wedding night.

The RIAA hopes that if they can't stop people from pirating music, "they will breed it out of them."

"This is exactly the same tactic that the English tried against Scotland," said Angus McCray, mp3 music advocate. "But we will fight for our music freedom!"
