| CANADA'S SOURCE FOR HOOTERS HUMOUR, PARODY, AND SATIRE
DAYTONA BEACH, FL-- Toby Larue, 31, doesn't give a hoot what the management of the local Hooters restaurant said about her qualifications. Toby believes she has the right to work for the controversial restaurant chain.
Toby, a female rights activist, has taken her cry to the streets of Florida, where she hopes that people will stand up and take notice. Dirk Swiggler, assistant manager in charge of personnel, had nothing but good things to say about Toby. "During my interview with Toby, I could tell that she was, uh, a very strong individual. You have to admire a woman who is not afraid to go out in public without washing or combing her hair, wearing make-up, or putting on deodorant." Dirk made several annotations on Toby's resume, and took special note of her "work" experience with Greenpeace and PETA. "I don't know why she feels she has to protest. She's right up there on the call-back list. When a woman like Toby can come in for an interview wearing sweatpants and a torn t-shirt, it really makes a statement. It's that earthiness that I know our franchise lacks." Toby made quite an impression, to say the least. "Her suggestion that we should change the dress code showed initiative," added Dirk. "I had never considered having our hostesses wear brown frocks and sandals." Dirk expressed disappointment in his decision to not welcome Toby into the Hooters family. "It's unfortunate that we just aren't hiring right now," said Dirk. "That is, we aren't hiring someone of Toby's caliber and expertise right now. I wouldn't feel right putting her on the floor when our clients haven't learned to appreciate her aggressive personality and wry anti-sexist remarks. She deserves so much more." "I understand
she hasn't had a lot of restaurant experience," continued Dirk, "but
as she said to me, to look at that was to bow to the pressures of the
bourgeois patriarchal oppression. I'm sure companies will be falling over
themselves to hire this prize."
