IN THE SUBURBS--The fires of love will cause people to do careless things. Actions carried-out during the heat of the moment are often regretted later, when calmer minds prevail. The same might be said for Connie Dowbush, a woman whose burning desires consumed her and her property.
Connie had been married to husband Roy for several years, but lately she was complaining that the fire had gone out of their relationship. "When I first met Roy, he was hot," said Connie, 42. "His smoking good-looks and flaming-red hair made all my alarms go off. I was shy though; I'd been burned before." Connie and Roy fanned the flames of passion early in their relationship, and nothing could smother the smoldering love they had for each other. But as time passed, things cooled off a little. Connie was occupied razing their three children, and Roy was busier than ever, as things at work had started heating up. The pressures of life led to several heated arguments, and their love-life was barely a-flicker. "Connie was putting the heat on me to take some time off work," said Roy. "She was absolutely inflamed with the amount of overtime I was putting in at the office. And I'll admit I was a little hot under the collar about her spending habits." "We had several arguments smolder over several weeks. Silly things like, where were the emergency candles," admitted Connie. "I thought if we could fuel that burning passion we had when we first started dating things we could re-ignite the fires of love." A freak propane torch accident at their holiday cabin extinguished any chance to rekindle their desires. "I think
that may have torched any chance of putting the spark back into our marriage,"
admitted Connie. "But perhaps I haven't been completely doused. Roy's
invited me on his next business trip, so maybe we'll try to light it up
again then."
