It is a crying shame, a crying shame that this fair capital so beautiful in summer, so much like a winter palace in winter, with it's wonderful canal coursing through almost directly underneath the buildings of parliament, a fair river made by the hands of Man, the hands of Man that also grasp the seasoned wood to slap the ice to bat the frozen pellet of rubber across the ice in a test of endurance, strength and agility, the strength that dug the canal out of a muddy ditch, that built those buildings of parliament, and then rebuilt them after that unfortunate fire, these hands of Man, that are also raised to 'Aye' or 'Nay' the motions set before Her Majesty's Loyal servants, the Members of Parliament, and also that House of Sober Second Thought, the Senate, the room all red and velvet, much like my favourite pizzeria, although without the frosty mugs of amber ale, I'm not going to be drinking that light fizzy stuff--if I want a beer I want it to taste like a beer and not like a carbonated soda easily purchased at the corner malt shop, it's a crying shame that these hands of Man can not support my beloved Senators, why do I have to live through the abashment and discomfiture again of watching them fail, not on the ice, because that I can manage and have managed ever since those seasons, lo many years, when they last won the Cup of Stanley's, through the long diaspora when I found myself cheering for their hated rivals, the Montreal Maroons, and later even the Maple Leafs--will those days be coming back, I hope not, it's almost as bad as cheering for that awful city, Sarnia, evil incarnation of Sodom and Gomorrah, a blight in this favoured land, but to watch them fail as a team, organizationally, like that strange little political party, I thought they had become fossilized, but there, I heard it on the radio, the National Radio, that there was a Convention, a gathering, that elected a new leader, did they even have any Members in Parliament, and I checked my Team Roster, and yes, they still do have a Member or two, how relevant are they I wondered, they're all but extinct, and while we wait for the resurgence of the once-great Conservatives--Progressive, mind you, and the ultimate downfall of that other party of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition, I can't remember their name right now, nor who their leader is, another faceless player--where are the stars I ask, where are the stars
