| CANADA'S SOURCE FOR ROMANTIC HUMOUR, PARODY, AND SATIRE
AT THE OFFICE--Becky Corniche, a marketing assistant at TetraCorp (a multi-faceted corporation), has a secret admirer in her office. For three weeks now, Becky has been receiving flowers, cards, candy, and assorted gifts from a secret crush. But although there are fewer than forty males working for TetraCorp, and only nine of those are single, and of those nine, only six are heterosexual, Becky has no clue who is secretly courting her affections.
Somebody has been anonymously sending her the romantic poems, witty office jokes, and cute plush animals, but every one of the gifts has come at the right moment, and more than one has appeared at a perfect time, when she "really needed it." "I wonder who my secret admirer could be," said Becky. "Is it Jeff Bergen the personnel manager, who is always wearing the Tommy Hilfiger shirts, and wears the citrus-smelling cologne? Or maybe it's that hunky young Peter, the technical support specialist, who is always smiling at me. Perhaps it's the guy who replaces our water jugs...Thor I think his name is." Becky isn't sure who her secret admirer is, but he certainly seems to know a lot about her. It's almost as if he has his eyes on her every day, or is getting reports from someone nearby. "He knows everything about me," said Becky. "But I have no idea who he is. He could be sitting right next to me, and I wouldn't have a clue." Becky is intrigued that someone at work would find her attractive, and she isn't sure to whom she can talk about it. There are very few female coworkers that she can confide in, and only Paul Westham, the accounts payable officer who sits at the desk next to her, has been there when every gift has been delivered. "Paul
just looks up at the ceiling when I ask him who might have dropped off
the secret gifts," said Becky. "He might know something, but
he's not letting on."
