| Prioritizing Our Lives During The NHL Playoffs |

Let The Games Begin, And ContinueFor the past couple of weeks every night has been Hockey Night In Canada! While this is not necessarily a bad thing (from the hockey fan's perspective), unfortunately other tasks and activities tend to get put on hold every Spring. Sure, lawns need to be mowed, bathrooms need to be tiled, and gutters need to be gutted, but honestly, who has the time to appreciate the fruits of these labours when we are all in our homes watching the worthy earn the right to hoist Lord Stanley's cup? Honey, I'd love to build those new shelves for you--after the game. Yes dear, I'll certainly help you stain the fence--when the game is over. Of course sweetheart, we can go visit your relatives on the Island--after the playoffs! Why must we have to prioritize these mundanities whilst we embrace the post season and the gospels of Don Cherry? I don't understand how some families fight during the NHL's second season--the NHL hockey playoffs are supposed to bring people closer together! Of course we still make time to go out shopping (for jerseys) with our loved ones; of course we make an effort to talk about our feelings (after a loss); yes, we can eat (nachos, chips, pretzels) as a family! Honestly people, it's not as if we all lock ourselves in the basement until the finals are over--because someone has to make regular beer runs! Look, I'd like to go on explaining the inner mind of the true hockey fan, but I just can't type any longer--the game is about to begin... |
