My sister came over the other day, crying to me about her boyfriend. I told her “Louella, he is married. He should spend much more on you than his fat wife.” But, she does not listen to me. Sure, she has that nice apartment that he bought for her. But she earned that for sure.
What is important, when you are the second woman, is that you do not pretend to be Mrs. Happy Homemaker. That is what his fat wife is for. You, you are the one who goes to the shows, and gets treated like a queen for a few days every month. Louella, you are not supposed to clean his pants. He already has her to do that.
If you are upset about the treatment, do as I do and run up his credit cards. You will feel better for doing something, and also for having many new things. There can be nothing more better to cure you of the common woes than that.
Remember, my sweet, that you don’t have to be played as the fiddle who is not first. If he does not want to treat you special, you tell him you will call fatty at work, and then we’ll see how fast he takes you to dinner. Learn to whiff the roses now, because you will not always have the soft skin that makes them hard in the pants.
