Advice from Helena Aunde-Bague
Oh my sweet, how happy I am for your birthday! Of course I remembered the date of your special day. For how could I not? It reminds me with glory for how much younger I am than you. Oh precious, do not take this thing as being personal. I look up to you with your wisdom, and your advanced age only shows that you are wise beyond the years. Do not dwell yourself upon my youth, but cherish your very special day!
I would not be the friend that I am to you, if I did not remind you to return almost all of the gifts that you would receive. Did I not suggest to you beforehand to have yourself registered with those very important stores? I would admonish you for this oversight, but perhaps it is better to not know how much was spent on you. I would chose to cry if I knew that my dearest friends were spending less than they could afford. Knowing that they have maximized one credit card just to make me happy on the anniversary of my birth, is usually enough of the warming thought for me to keep them as close friends.
For my birthday which will be my twenty-ninth I think again, I will be expecting something to be most special. Of course I will have to pretend to be surprised, as I always do. But I do not expect you spend too much of an effort in the plans, now that you are advancing in the years. Oh, did that surpise you to know that you are organizing it? It is my very special gift to you, as the dearest of my friends I still have.
Happy birthday my dearest, and may your aging years come to you as slow as is possible.![]()
