Advice from Helena Aunde-Bague
Who has time to grow their salads? Who even has time for the garden?
Of course I want my dill to be fresh! But, I am not going to get down in the dirt and be filthy for you to have a nice salad.
Jeannette told me that I should plow some dirt in the corner for my vegetables, and put boxes of the dirt on my veranda for the herbs. Do I have that much time for you? No.
Would I make you slave over the hot stove? No, of course not. You would take me to Anton’s where we could both be sitting and having chats over lemon gin and potato skins.
If I were you, thinking of me, I would be as you and tell me to have a cute boy deliver herbs to me, you would say. We keep the boy employed with a job, and we both can have fresh dill for our salads.
Having me pull lettuce from the ground…ha ha…do you not realize how much filth there would be? Better to buy the lettuce from the market where at least we know where it came from.![]()
