| Swimming With Sharks |

Greetings Editor,In the great land of Oz, lots of people get bitten by sharks. Does this happen a lot in Canada? Corey G. Adelaide, South Australia Dear Corey, That is an excellent question. Although the Canadian waters are frigid year-long, and there is little or no swimming in our oceans (the Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic), we suspect many people still die from sharks when they fall off their sailboats, get hit by ferries, or try to swim the Strait of Georgia. But since we only hear about these tragedies, and they're rarely witnessed, we must assume that yes, it was probably due to sharks. Either that, or the deadly Horned Otters. --Editor |
