The peaceful wooden people of Robax are always suffering some sort of aggravating back pain.

It's a relaxing little place with peaceful inhabitants. The Robaxacetians are a simple folk, not much different from other people except for one significant detail...they are made of polished wood. Genuine and hardworking, the wooden people of Robaxacet live quiet, contemplative lives.

Their wooden community isn't exactly a spasm of commercial success, but their relaxing way of life is curiously medicinal. They live in comfortable little homes, heated with electricity. A deadly inherent fear of fire makes fireplaces impractical.

Their eye sockets appear dead, but still they can see. The children love to watch movies. Pinocchio is among their favourites. And they always scream (or would if they had functioning mouths) during Little Red Riding Hood, but it's the woodsman, not the wolf they're afraid of...

Curious though is their motion; they walk about like animated marionettes without any strings. It's not their fault, it's how they're put together. Their frail wooden joints make it difficult for them to lift heavy items, and as a consequence, they often deal with excruciating back aches.

One Robax family has learned to deal with the constant throbbing, except father that is. Dad is the most stubborn of the bunch--a real stick in the mud. He refuses to take time off work to recuperate, instead choosing to rely on acupuncture to relieve him of his "woodies" (his stiff, nagging muscle pains). Giant steel needles are always protruding from his vulnerable mahogany form. The relief is welcome, if only temporary.

Contact with other communities is limited, aside from an occasional trip to Adville.

Overall, the wooden people of Robax are content. They have managed to carve themselves a way of life despite their unusual physical limitations. But that's okay, they prescribe to their own tranquil philosophies. If they were any more human, they would lose something of themselves, and that would be a bitter pill to swallow.
